8 Months Old

Saylor is 8 months old today. She is still a healthy girl who has never been sick and continues to follow a perfect path on height, weight and head growth chart. She is sporting seven teeth. She eats three meals a day(baby food), mastered picking up and feeding herself puffs, and has decreased her amount of bottles to only a few a day. She has a sippy cup, but it's still more of a toy. However, she's really good at drinking water out of a glass if someone is holding it. She's tried mashed potatoes, company potatoes, pudding, yogurt and corn. She likes about everything but she really says "YUMMMMM" (she really does) after she has a bite of sweet potatoes or her chicken and apples meal. Our good little sleeper has turned into a once or twice a nighter... *Sigh*... it's been a long, tiring month, but summer is almost here when we can nap with her during the day to catch up on sleep! She is wearing almost all 12 month clothes but some shorts are a little big. She can babble quite a bit, wave (pageant wave), give "five," and clap (usually for herself.) It is fun to see her discover new things. Recently, she has discovered her tongue and likes to stick it in and out like a frog. She gets stuck trying to crawl, but she's very close, and gets around by doing "the worm."  She prefers to walk with someone holding her hands and her sit and stand walker is her new obsession, which we have to admit, gets hidden sometimes. Besides, trying to walk, she loves to ride in her wagon around the neighborhood, go for walks in the stroller, be outside, go up-side down, play "down, set, hut" with dad, play peek-a-boo or be scared, and feel different textures on touch and feel books. She eats anything she can get her hands on including, but not limited to, mom's hair, stickers (that came up with some supper), grass, cardboard ("Made in China" came out clear as day from the other end) and anything else that is laying within two arms reach of her arm. She's still a sweet, happy girl who loves to be social and crazy. She's got a perfect Dad for that and a really lovely mom who picks up after them. We cannot wait for summer to spend more time with Saylor!
