Bank of America Chicago Marathon

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been on our bucket list for awhile.  It is the second biggest marathon in the United States (New York is bigger) and it is one of the 6 World Marathons. We had tried to get in previous years, but didn't get in.  This year Wade got in based on previous marathon time and I got in by lottery. We joined 40,000 other crazy people! Training was a lot of early morning runs by ourselves.  A lot of people ask, "When do you find time to run?" I'd get up at 4:30 on Saturday mornings and he'd get up at 4:30 on Sunday mornings for our long runs.  During the week he runs before school and I run after.  And, more importantly, it takes an understanding between the two of us to make it work. No, we did not train together and no, we did not run the marathon together. Someone had to stay with the kids while we trained and Wade is so much faster (he ran his marathon in 7:09 minute mile pace.) Yes, the training was lonely sometimes, yes it was miserable sometimes, yes it wasn't always fun, but the feeling of accomplishment every training run, every long run and of course after the marathon makes it all worth it.  And yes, it was actually FUN!  The marathon went through 29 neighborhoods in Chicago.  It was elbow to elbow running the whole time and the entire 26.2 miles was lined with spectators and fans.  It was an awesome experience!

We were lucky enough to have Josh and Cassidy come join us for the weekend!
Marathon #4 and Marathon #2 in the books.  Ready to plan the next one!
