Donsons Farms Open House

Today was a very special day for dad/grandpa.  The Western Iowa Dairy Alliance sponsored a breakfast at the neighboring cheese plant and an open house at Donsons Farms.  Grandpa Boote/Great Grandpa Boote started the family dairy in 1960.  When he passed away in 1971, Grandma Boote and her sons kept it in operation.  Now it is run by Grandpa and Uncle Kevin.  They milk 140 cows twice a day and farm 550 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and oats.  We are proud of Grandpa Boote's farm and Saylor loved to see the calves, cows, hay, silage bags, manure pit (wait...we skipped that part of the tour,) parlor, milk tanks, Kubota, tractors, and one-day-old calves.

Ready for our tour!
Listening to Bill Foley teach us about a cow's diet and nutrition.

What does a girl have to do to get a ride around here?

"Hey you!"

Watching a sheep get sheared

Love Saylor's reaction! She must be a farm girl at heart!

Talkin' farm
Calf chores for $.50 anyone?
Some people are just more excited about rocking the blue booties than others...
